Hello all,
Well, I am trying something brand new and a little scary, but at the same time, doing something I love....writing. As a teen and young (much younger) adult I kept journals, recorded my thoughts, and in general, expressed my feelings with words. As I got older, and time became less available, writing became something I did as a necessity. Such as writing shopping lists, lesson plans, and paying bills. As children were born and responsibilites increased, I put the pen and paper down and lost my love for written words. But in the back of my mind there was a still, small voice and remnant of the young girl who wanted to be a reporter, write entertainment features for amgazines, or write funny stories about the characters in my life. (And there are some doozies!) After doing a guest spot for one of my favorite blogs, I began the journey back to the writer within and instead of pen and paper, clicked away at the keyboard. Finally, the courage was found to venture out and try my own blog. I hope you find it entertaining, genuine, and heartwarming. My goal is to share my life as a small town mom, my wonderful world that is imperfect, but so much a part of me. I'd like to share the things that I love anf have a passion for such as family, friends, gardening, cooking, books, church, and a plethera of other things that small town life can offer. Thanks for taking this journey with me.
With today being Mother's Day, I felt it was an appropriate time to take this first step that I have been procrastinating. So often, as mothers, we don't take the time to do things for ourselves, and we feel guilty for taking a few minutes, heaven forbid HOURS, to take part in an activity that is solely for us. We need to stop the madness and cycle of guilt and have some "me" time, couple time with spouses, and girl time with our friends. I think it is setting a good example for my girls to see that I am their mother (bless their hearts) but also a wife, friend, and much more. I do enjoy family time and all the drama that usually accompanies it, but it is also a breath of fresh air to have an actual adult conversation with my husband and laugh like a young girl again with my friends. I am blessed with a wonderful, healthy, happy (most of the time) family, but there are other dimensions to moms that needs sharing...thus this new blog!!! I'm looking forward to hearing from others and sharing this wonderful small town life we are so lucky to be a part of.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I hope you have all had some "spoiling" as we say in the south, and you have spent time with loved ones today.
